R380s Email Configuration Guide
Introduction
Introduction
Your R380s can receive and send e-mail according to POP3 and IMAP4 standards. To configure your R380s for e-mail you will need to: · ensure that you have a data subscription with your mobile phone operator · set up a connection to an internet service provider · set up an e-mail account.
The first requirement must be met before proceeding with the rest of configuration. You should call your mobile operator's helpdesk and check that your subscription allows you to make outgoing data calls. This is not necessary if you are already using WAP on your R380s, because this means that your subscription already allows outgoing data calls to be made. To set up a service provider and an e-mail account, you must first gather the necessary information and then enter the information into your R380s.
Choice of Service Provider
If you have an e-mail account installed on your PC already, refer to the program specific guides which give you exact instructions.

Service Provider Settings
Actual Value Description Your service providers access telephone number. Ask your e-mail service provider if their server accepts Analogue (V32) or ISDN (V110) connections. If the answer is both, each connection may have a separate telephone number.
Bearer Capability: Analogue or ISDN ISDN connects faster, but unlike landline ISDN, operates at the same speed as analogue once connected. Unless your e-mail service provider is also your mobile service provider and ISDN operation is guaranteed, it is recommended that you get started using Analogue bearer capability. Username Password The username your e-mail service provider issued on creation of the account. The password your e-mail service provider issued on creation of the account. Ask your e-mail service provider if the IP address is assigned automatically by the server. If so, IP assignment should be set to Server. This is the most common situation. IP Assignment: Server or Static If the service provider has a static IP address which is permanently allocated you must enter it into the R380s. The IP assignment must be set to Static and the number must be entered into the Own IP address field. Own IP Address Only used when IP Assignment is set to Static. Format e.g. 123.9.45.2 Ask your e-mail service provider if the DNS server DNS Assignment: Server or Static addresses are assigned automatically by the server (normally the case). If so, DNS server assignment should be Server.
